It’s a pleasure to greet you!
My name is Carolina Mesa and I have been a conversational Spanish teacher at OLSA International since January 2022. I believe that each person is a whole world to discover (among a vast universe). I can say with certainty that you are the masters of life that constantly teach us with every anecdote and laughter.
What I am most passionate about working at OLSA International is the possibility of creating authentic, human and simple connections. Surrounding yourself with calm, confident and charismatic people makes it possible to generate memorable learning and fun spaces.
I also enjoy the little things, like art, literature, animals, food and music. Currently, I am finishing my undergraduate degree in Social Communication at Luis Amigó University and, in addition, I belong to a research group at the university and I belong to a musical projection group.

Estoy encantada de conocerlos, mi nombre es Carolina Mesa y soy profesora de español conversacional en OLSA International desde enero de 2022. Creo que cada persona es un mundo entero por descubrir entre un vasto universo y puedo decir con certeza que ustedes son los maestros de vida que nos enseñan constantemente con cada anécdota y risa. Lo que más me apasiona de trabajar en OLSA International es la posibilidad de generar conexiones auténticas, humanas y sencillas, pues, rodearse de personas tranquilas, seguras y carismáticas posibilita generar espacios memorables de aprendizaje y diversión; las historias me fascinan y qué mejor que escucharlos todos los días como grandes protagonistas de ellas.
Disfruto de las pequeñas cosas como el arte, la literatura, los animales, la comida y la música. Actualmente, estoy terminando mi pregrado en Comunicación Social y, además, pertenezco a un semillero de investigación junto con un grupo de proyección musical.

Hello! I am Geraldine. I am studing a double degree in Spanish and Hispanic Philology. I love Spanish because it is a beautiful and very rich language, that is why I enjoy learning it and, more, teaching it. Being a teacher has shown me that by teaching you learn much more and that is what I love about my profession.
Music and art have a very important role in my life and my perception of the world, this is why I adapt them to my classes.

¡Hola! Soy Geraldine. Estudio una doble titulación en licenciatura en español y filología hispánica. Amo el español porque es una lengua hermosa y muy rica, por eso disfruto de aprenderla y, mucho más, de enseñarla. Ser maestra me ha mostrado que enseñando se aprende mucho más y eso es lo que adoro de mi profesión.
La música y el arte juegan un papel muy importante en mi vida y en mi percepción del mundo y es por esto que los adapto a mis clases.
Hay muchas formas divertidas de aprender un idioma y seguro que aquí las vas a encontrar.
Conocer una lengua nueva nos abre la mente y en Medellín aprender es un parche, ¡anímate!

Hello, my name is Jose Rendón, I am a conversational Spanish teacher. One of the things that I enjoy most about working in an international language school is the possibility of meeting different people and sharing stories with them.
I studied English, although I must say that when you share with foreigners you realize that there will always be something new to discover. I love to teach, but the most interesting thing for me is that as I teach a class, I learn as much, or more things as my students. The great diversity of people you can meet is also interesting.
I really enjoy exchanging cultural knowledge since one of my biggest dreams is to be able to travel and do it by myself. In the same way, I want to highlight the real commitment we have with teaching and learning. I can assure you that you will not only learn to speak more fluently regardless of the language you seek to learn, but you will also have very pleasant and fun moments.
Hola, mi nombre es Jose Rendón, soy profe conversacional de español. Una de las cosas que más disfruto de trabajar en una escuela internacional de idiomas es la posibilidad de conocer diferentes personas y compartir historias con ellas. Estudié inglés aunque debo decir que compartiendo con extranjeros te das cuenta que siempre habrá algo nuevo por conocer, me encanta enseñar aunque lo más interesante para mí es que el proceso es equivalente ya que mientras enseño puedo aprender muchas cosas. Es interesante a su vez la gran diversidad de personas que puedes conocer.
Disfruto mucho intercambiar conocimientos culturales ya que uno de mis grandes sueños es poder viajar y poderlo hacer por mi mismo. De igual manera quiero resaltar el compromiso real que tenemos con la enseñanza y tú aprendizaje, te puedo asegurar que no solo aprenderás hablar con mayor fluidez sin importar el idioma que busques aprender sino que también pasarás momentos muy agradables y divertidos.

I feel very happy with what I do. Languages are one of my greatest passions! In addition, I love to dance, sing and I really enjoy the wonder of art and astronomy, which fills me with intrigue and fascination. I like to teach Spanish to foreigners because I feel that it is a unique vocation. Language is a wonderful instrument that allows us to laugh, learn, communicate and understand the diversity of our world.
I am the person I am now because since I was little I have been on the path to being independent, to overcome the obstacles of life and to achieve all my goals!
¡Me siento muy feliz con lo que hago, los idiomas son una de mis más grandes pasiones ! Pero además de esto me encanta bailar, cantar, disfruto mucho la maravilla del arte, además la astronomía me llena de intriga y fascinación. Me gusta enseñar español a extranjeros porque siento que es una vocación única, la lengua es un instrumento maravilloso que nos permite reír, aprender, comunicar y comprender la diversidad de nuestro mundo. Soy la persona que soy ahora porque desde pequeña me he encaminado por ser independiente, por querer luchar por lo que quiero y por lo que amo y apresar de los obstáculos de la vida sigo en pie, ¡ahora más fuerte que nunca para alcanzar todas mis metas!

I am a student of Hispanic Philology and I am immensely happy to be able to share with my students their experiences and words through conversation.
I like music, reading and walking. I always try to decipher the internal rhythm of each thing or situation and synchronize with it. I enjoy listening to other people and learning about their ideas and how they relate to the world.
I am a great advocate that education is strengthened and uplifted through speech. That is why, thanks to the conversational methodology of teaching Spanish, I have found a way to make learning something closer and more comfortable for my students.
Soy estudiante de filología hispánica y me alegra inmensamente poder compartir con mis estudiantes sus experiencias y palabras a través de la conversación.
Me gusta la música, leer y caminar. Siempre intento descifrar el ritmo interno de cada cosa o situación y sincronizarme con ella. Disfruto de escuchar a otras personas y conocer sus ideas y la manera en que se relacionan con el mundo.
Soy un gran defensor de que la educación se fortalece y erige a través del habla. Es por eso que gracias a la metodología conversacional de enseñanza del español he encontrado la manera de lograr que aprender sea algo más cercano y cómodo para mis estudiantes.

My name is Paola Andrea and I am a student in my ninth semester of Hispanic Philology. Thanks to this career, I have learned the importance of experiencing the world through language, because in it I have learned that each language represents a culture and that by teaching Spanish I can share not only its linguistic code, but also expand knowledge about a part of the Spanish-speaking culture.
For similar reasons, I also really enjoy traveling to see new places, exchanging knowledge with people, watching movies, and reading.

Mi nombre es Paola Andrea y soy estudiante del noveno semestre de Filología hispánica. Gracias a esta carrera, he conocido la importancia de experimentar el mundo a través del lenguaje, pues en ella he aprendido que cada idioma representa una cultura y que mediante la enseñanza del español puedo compartir no solo su código lingüístico, sino también ampliar el conocimiento sobre una parte de la cultura hispanohablante.
Por razones similares, también disfruto mucho de viajar para conocer nuevos lugares, intercambiar conocimientos con las personas, ver películas y leer.

Good afternoon,
I think teaching is a very beautiful vocation in which day after day I find a personal challenge marked by the satisfaction of creating pleasant spaces and moments where knowledge is not only instructed and imparted, but also where people enjoy, interact and share experiences of life that will always teach us something pleasant. It inspires me to know that every day I am going to meet different people who want to learn Spanish and it is very gratifying to realize that I am contributing to their dream of learning the language.
Among many other things I do outside of my job, I love spending time with my family, going for walks, listening to music, watching movies or going to the cinema, walking outdoors, writing, meditating, doing yoga, and learning about philosophy, spirituality, and metaphysics.
I think Medellin is a great place to visit because it is a very welcoming city, because of its people, its climate, its gastronomy, its cultural diversity and its constant technological transformation. In addition, its cost of living is very affordable, the options for having fun are innumerable, the kindness of the Paisas is wonderful and you will always feel at home. In Medellin it is impossible to get bored.
I studied as a pharmaceutical technology and have a diploma in medical visits, although the paths of life almost always led me through customer service and administration. I am currently studying English in a self-taught way.

Enseñar es una vocación muy hermosa en la cual día a día encuentro un desafío personal marcado por la satisfacción de crear espacios y momentos agradables en donde no sólo se instruye e imparte un conocimiento, sino también que se disfruta, se interactúa y se comparten experiencias de vida que siempre nos enseñarán algo grato tanto a estudiantes como a profesores. Me inspira saber que cada día voy a encontrarme con diferentes personas que quieren aprender español y es muy gratificante darme cuenta de que estoy contribuyendo con su sueño de aprender el idioma.
2. ¿Cuáles son algunos de tus pasatiempos? ¿Qué disfrutas hacer fuera del trabajo?
Entre muchas otras cosas que hago fuera de mi trabajo, amo pasar tiempo con mi familia, pasear, escuchar música, ver películas o ir al cine, caminar al aire libre, escribir, meditar, hacer yoga y aprender sobre filosofía, espiritualidad y metafísica.
3. ¿Por qué alguien debería venir a Medellín a aprender español?
Porque Medellín es una ciudad muy acogedora por su gente, su clima, su gastronomía, su diversidad cultural, su constante transformación tecnológica; además su costo de vida es muy asequible, las opciones para divertirse son innumerables, la amabilidad de los paisas es estupenda y siempre se sentirán como en casa. En Medellín es imposible aburrirse.
4. ¿Qué estás estudiando? ¿Qué estudiaste?
Mis principales estudios fueron una tecnología farmacéutica y un diplomado en visita médica, aunque los caminos de la vida me llevaron casi siempre por el servicio al cliente y la administración. Actualmente estudio inglés de una forma autodidacta.

I like teaching because I consider it to be an act of altruism since being a teacher, for me, means forgetting about individuality in order to give life to a group. That is why I am studying a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of Antioquia.
And, if you want to study Spanish, Medellín is the right city, because wherever you go you will have a Colombian willing to help you, especially at OLSA.
Me gusta la enseñanza porque considero que es un acto de altruismo y abnegación, ya que ser docente, para mí, significa olvidarse de la individualidad para poderle dar vida a un colectivo. Es por eso por lo que me encuentro estudiando Licenciatura en Educación Infantil en la Universidad de Antioquia.
Y, si quieres estudiar español, Medellín es la ciudad correcta, porque a donde vayas tendrás un colombiano dispuesto a ayudarte, especialmente en OLSA.

My name is Valentina and what I like most about teaching conversational Spanish at OLSA is understanding that learning is like teamwork between the teacher and the student, where many times, we both learn.
When I am not teaching, I like to take pictures, spend time with my dogs and attend language exchanges to meet new people and connect with other cultures and ways of seeing the world.
I think Medellin is a great place to learn Spanish because there are many interesting and fun expressions in our slang that are worth learning, if you want to connect with natives. In addition, the people here are characterized by our good energy and kindness.

Mi nombre es Valentina y lo que más me gusta de la enseñanza es entender que el aprendizaje es como un trabajo en equipo entre el profesor y el estudiante, en donde muchas veces ambos aprendemos.
Cuando no estoy trabajando, me gusta tomar fotografías, pasar tiempo con mis perros y asistir a intercambios de idiomas para conocer nuevas personas y conectar con otras culturas y formas de ver el mundo.
Yo creo que Medellin es una ciudad perfecta para aprende español porque existen muchas expresiones interesantes y divertidas de nuestra jerga que valen la pena aprender si quieres conectar con nativos, además, las personas de aquí nos caracterizamos por nuestra buena energía y amabilidad.
